help with featured slide

i have purchased this and using the html version. i have a question though, for some reason, the featured slider section, i cannot figure out how to insert an image because it when i try to, it posts the image into the little preview side area, as well as the main area, so it throws off the whole slider. for example this is the main slider code

You actually don't insert a preview image, the slider takes care of that. You just need to have the smaller image named correctly in the right folder. Your large image must have 540x390 in the file name, and your small one must have 70x70 in the file name. Make sure both are in the same folder. So, for instance, you need to have these two images in the same folder and the slider will automatically know what to do with them:

image_540x390.jpg
image_70x70.jpg

Note the "image_" part of the filenames need to exactly match eachother. Does that make sense?

How did you get your slider image to work... Mine is not sliding.. And in theme options it says put featured as the slug but mine didn't show up until I took the slug out.....

Hi IndustrialThemes , i recently purchased swagger magazine and i followed all the step to get my feature slider working, meaning i selected my post with the "featured" tag, which is an exact match in the theme option setting (front page), i keep trying everything and it won't work, my featured image set and nothing is working so far. Plus, my background image is not working, i trying changing it with the demo setting but it does not change. Please help asap thank you.

@susanvanderborght: In the HTML version the styling is there for the comments but there is no functionality. You would have to implement your own commenting system.

I did these steps and my feature slider started to work .. but it is not rotating through the articles.. and the only way it shows uup is if i make the post a sticky note ! so it is not makeing the carersole affect ! how do i get this to work ...?

You shouldn't use the Sticky option as it doesn't work very well with Swagger. Make sure you have at least more than one post in your featured slider.

thank you very much .. i stop using all of my sticky..and i went to my plugins and turned all of them off.. my featured slider is still not work... when i put featured.. only one shows up and i have (11) featured tags on articles...

the spotlight slider is working ... the editor pick slider only works of and on .. but it never moves....

my featured slider was never working and sliding .. i got the featured slider working with articles up there , but my featured slider never slide through the stories ....

i have always had the featured slider working with articles up there but not sliding and fading in and out and going through the stories...

my slider was never working when you put "featured" in the TAGS area.. but i found a way to get stories up there ... so my festured slider is not working .. and it never has ...

i even played with it thursday and friday shutting off different sliders,plugins ... 6 hour a piece... working a full day and coming home and following every step you said ... i hhave given you my login .. i will fix what ever but the site has never worked like the demo ...

One of two things will happen:

1) It will work, meaning the problem is with your current WordPress installation
2) It will not work, meaning the problem is with your web host.

Tell me what happens, and that will begin our troubleshooting process.

he is saying install another copy of wordpress in a subfolder of your site. For instance your site is www.blahblah.com, then create a subdirectory called "new" and install a separate brand new copy of wordpress in it. So your new wordpress install would go to www.blahblah.com/new.

This requires setting up a brand new database, creating a subfolder called "new" and installing wordpress in it.

You will not lose any information since you're creating a completely stand-alone test install. It will have it's own database, hence it will be unable to touch your current WordPress install.

i have done this and nothing is working ... i had someone go in and get images showing ... but the featured slider is not going through the stories

Minimum sizes of images should be at least 550px wide by 400px tall to function correctly in the featured slider.

up the same images with 550px by 400px the site continues breaking times. The strange thing is that this happens sporadically. sometimes broken, sometimes not. See the attached picture. When the error occurs, it is browser independent, both break in IE as in others (firefox and chrome). Images are loaded one beneath the other and the slideshow does not work. But this only happens sometimes, independent group that is in the highlighted posts. Sometimes without changes being made to highlight the site loads correctly, sometimes the highlights is broken.

I just looked at your site and noticed most of the images in your featured slider are in fact 540px by 390px. They need to be at least 550px by 400px to work correctly.

Images sent in any format 550px by 400px above, to be associated with prominent are automatically resized to 540px by 390px by thema. This is standard thema, it was not me who said this setup. But as I mentioned in the previous post, the strange thing is that with the same collection of images, sometimes broken, sometimes not.

Yeah you're right, my mistake. There must be something else causing this then, because I can't replicate it on my demo, nor have I seen this happen before. It could be due to a plugin conflict. Try disabling all of your plugins and see if the featured slider begins working.

the first thing I thought was in conflict with plugins and I have done all possible tests of this type. As I mentioned in the first contact, not possible to determine exactly priate will break. Something I noticed is that always breaks after I change some prominence. Not necessarily in the slideshow, but any new spotlight image loaded in any area highlighted in the slide show does HOME break. So if I clear the browser cache, it loads again without breaking. I already have disabled the caching plugins to test and already have disabled all caching settings of the server. But it continues to break. Several friends called me to say they were also seeing the break site. But if it cleared the browser cache it back to load normally. I've tried to search for programming errors or conflicts of java script, but it seems that is not the case. I do not know how we can simulate it, like I said, you can not know when it will break or not. Sometimes the same set of images that is highlighted is loaded correctly in my browser, but totally breaks the browser of another person who is beside me.

That is very strange, and I've never seen that happen before. We need to locate the source of the error. We know it's not due to theme settings or image sizes or plugins. The next step is to rule out any file corruptions. To do this, re-download the theme from ThemeForest and overwrite your current theme files with a fresh copy, and then see if that helps fix the error or if it still exists.
