I believe it only had to do with the trending slider black line issue, but I can't recall if any other changes were made. You can just change the version number at the top of your style.css file to 1.3 and the notification will disappear if you want.

It would be great as a future update to add a enable/disable responsive button :), so everytime theres an update the code doesn't need to be re-added.

Site used to load fully on mobile, now loads zoomed really far in.

Postby johnrbarringer » Sat Aug 11, 2012 3:04 am

Hello,

I recently bought the theme (maybe a week ago) and have made only minor adjustments, so in this update when I re-uploaded the theme I just had it replace all the files and start fresh, now when I active the theme it is messed up; seems as if the background is not picking up and certain elements are not picking up.

I'm still in the process of adjusting it before activating it permanently and only work on it at night. This is a bit of a roadblock on any progress so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I've attached an image with a screenshot of what my homepage looks like, you can see that I've got a lot of work left to do but a lot of what was there/default elements to theme are missing.

Thanks for any help.

hey possibly it is just a stupid question from a non-web-developer.
I made some changes to style.css file and now when i will apply updated version i will lose them all.
Is there any way to create manage it, e.g create a separate file (say mycustomstyle.css) that would take priority over style.css if there is any code relating to the items in style.css
hm???

@johnrbarringer: sorry, I uploaded an update and forgot to include the images - whoops! Please re-download the theme from ThemeForest - it is fixed now. Sorry about that!

@cswkoko: all style changes that you do should be added in the custom.css file, that way when you update the theme they won't get overwritten. See if you can re-apply all the style changes you made to style.css, but do them in custom.css instead.

Two quick questions :)
1. You said the new version has the RDF/Microformat/Snippets but does this available for all type of reviews or just star rating reviews?

2. Please please change the carousel - use some other code this is just not working. I have downloaded the thumbnail rebuilder but still no use. It never works properly - all of a suddent the images show bigger and then shows with in the normal size. I am referring to the home page 'featured' carousel...

I do not want to mention the other carousel types that are available and works perfectly on many of the themeforest themes. I am sure you are aware of these types so please replace this annoying current carousel with something better that works all the time.

as usual, could you please publish roadmap for this theme? so we are aware of what to expect...

thanks in advance

Yes the rich snippets work for all 4 types of reviews (stars, numbers, percentages, and letters).

If you are having trouble with the featured slider please post a support topic with your question, thanks.

*ARG* I'm so sorry! I have attached the two images - please put them in your theme's images/ folder.

I'm going to update the theme files on ThemeForest as soon as I can. It looks like the rest of the files are updated, but please let me know if it still doesn't work after adding these images. Thanks again for your patience!

Actually, sorry Brian, it seems to be all good now and I believe I got the images in the download. I actually was doing something else and updated permalinks and it is now appearing, except I'm getting the following error message just above the user rating div (under the normal rating div):

Warning: Division by zero in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/themes/made/inc/single-review.php on line 372

I'm guessing this is because the script is trying to calculate the score but there are not any submitted by users yet. (Not tested)

I tested this on my end before I released it and I never got this error, but yes I think you might be right. Try opening inc/single-review.php and locating line 372 which looks like this:

Code: Select all
$rating = round($rating / $number_ratings, 1); //get total average of all ratings

Replace that code with this:

Code: Select all
if($number_ratings>0) $rating = round($rating / $number_ratings, 1); //get total average of all ratings

Please let me know if that works so I can update the theme files. I appreciate your help!

I think he had different PHP settings that caused it to show warnings but you and I don't have this enabled on our web servers.

Actually, based on his error, I have actually tweaked the inc/single-review.php file and fixed a few other things too. Specifically, if you have more than one user rating on a review type that uses the percentage rating type, the user rating will show 0%. I'm going to update Made to 1.6 and include both the images above as well as the updated inc/single-review.php file.

A HUGE THANKS to both of you and everyone else for helping me test this new feature!

When updating will our settings within the Theme Options get reset? Would creating a child theme prevent this if it is the case? Thanks. Great theme.

Re: Update Log (Current Version: 1.8)

Postby RisingLifeMedia » Wed Oct 24, 2012 10:01 am

Hi there,

I'm a very happy user of the Made theme! At this point in time, I have a few questions about updating the theme. I have been able to successfully update all .php files, but I am running into trouble trying to find how to update the .js and .css files.

Because of how my server is set up, I am forced to update via the Wordpress Dashboard > Appearance > Editor.

There, I can update all .php files as well as style.css and custom.css. HOWEVER, I cannot find a way to update .js files or where to find them, nor do I see a way to add new .png files that updates 1.5 and so on need.

Please help! ;)

Thank you ever so much.

Kind regards,
QY

PS. Regarding my previous question: I also just found that I do not know how to update lang/made.po & .mo using the method I am having to use. Or is there another method I am not aware of? I have no direct access to the files on my server. Thank you!

You have to have direct access to your files to update or install this theme. Have you tried using FTP? Contact your web host and ask them for FTP access and info and they should be able to help you.

Thanks for your response! I just contacted them and they gave me FTP access. Interesting is that I did not need it to install the theme before.

Now my next problem is that I am trying to find the correct directory/folder to add js/plugins.js and js/plugins-expanded.js but I can't find it. Can you help?

Yes, lots of stuff. Hundreds of lines were added for BuddyPress compatibility, and lots of other various changes (can't remember all the exact places I made changes, you could run it through a diff in a text editor and compare it to your version to find all changes...)

Hi Brian, I found a bug on my related box: there's too weird space. Look:
http://devls.it/wp-content/uploads/2012 ... 2-1723.png

I found this bug even on other sites like that one:

And my site:

@cwebbore09: I responded to your email.

@cecexx: That space is there by design, that is not a bug. If you want to remove it you would need to edit your style and remove that padding.

As far as I know it's there in all versions unless I'm forgetting something. I'm actually in the process of getting version 2.1 approved which has all the fixes mentioned above in the 2.1 coming soon at the top of this post. After it's approved do you mind posting a new forum topic with your question? I usually don't monitor this post as it is mostly for update notifications. Thanks for your patience!

Trying to get my head above water with support and stuff at this point, so I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it. Right now my list contains mostly general enhancements to the theme. The biggest thing probably on my list right now is to rework the way the ratings work so that you have more options for sorting reviews by highest rated. I definitely want to add that since it's been so highly requested. Sorry I can't be more concrete at this point, I'll update with more info as I have it.

Is there a place where current users can add suggestions that you could possibly implement in future versions if they seems worthwhile. Is already some place for that I've overlooked? The suggestion I would have is to enable people to use ratings functions without having the hassle of setting up the mini-site. Anyway great update. Thanks for the hard work.

Hi
Probably an elementary question but can you help please.
Updated to 2.1 following instructions.
Using FZ - \MadeMagazine\Made-Theme\made\ to /wp-content/themes/made
Dashboard shows I still have 1.8 as current version. Have I got it right? Why is version still showing as 1.8 on Dashboard.
Do I need to upload the whole Made-Theme folder into wp-content.

Many thanks

What does the version number say at the top of your style.css file? It should say 2.1. That's how WordPress knows which version you are on.

In my previous themes a user has created a post entitled Feature Requests or something similar and people have listed things they want to see in the theme. I guess no one has done this yet with Made (I guess because it already has so much in it :) ) but feel free to do that and I'll set it as a sticky topic.

It could be nice to add some true HTML5 to make it load super fast in the static things.
Recently I fell in love with Cache Manifest and it's awesome for the fast loading of CSS and JS files. Just and idea! =)

3 questions:

1. I am planning to work on the upgrade during Christmas/NY break heavily during 26-28th December, and maybe even earlier during Christmas.
Will you be resounding to queries during that time?

2. I will be upgrading since 1.4 version
I am going to go through the list of all files amended since then (all upgrades) and update them all in one go. Is this a correct approach?

3. can you envisage if my website will look ok after the upgrade or will it need to be "under maintenance" until I go through all changes, understand them and set up properly.

1) Yes, I will be monitoring support forums every day except Christmas day (25th)

2) The best approach is to just download the theme from ThemeForest and overwrite all of your theme files. That will ensure you have the most updated version of every file.

3) That's a tough question. To be safe I would say you should set it up on a test server first and make sure everything updates correctly. Then if it does you can migrate it to your live server. So basically in a perfect world you would make a copy of your site in a dev (staging) environment, get it setup how you want it, and then copy to live. That would be the best way to avoid downtime.

It should be the current version. What does the version number at the top of your style.css file say? If it does not say 2.3 then please let me know. Also make sure you are only uploading the made folder, which is found inside the Made-Theme folder.

Thanks for the update!
I have just installed update 2.2 and 2.3 by overwriting the files as you suggested. This has always worked for me in previous updates, but now the update alert keeps telling me I have version 2.1 instead of 2.3 installed, yet all files are updated. Do you happen to know why, or what I can do about it?

It says 2.1. I guess that must be it then... I replaced it with the one from the new download that says 2.3, but strangely enough afterwards I go back on to the editor of the dashboard and there it keeps saying 2.1.

The file must not actually be getting updated on your server. Maybe you're putting it in the wrong place. It needs to go in the main theme folder on your server in wp-content/themes/

The update code can come from one and only one place - the top of the style.css file. if it is not updating then there is something else wrong. Maybe it's an issue with your WordPress install? You can find out and try to rule that out this way: create a brand new, empty WordPress installation in a test subfolder on your server somewhere. Make sure you download a completely new version of WordPress and create a new, blank database to use. This will be a stand-alone, test WordPress installation that is completely separate from your main live install. Then, install an unmodified version of the theme and see if the same problem persists in the new install. This will help narrow down the source of the issue - whether it is in your current WordPress install or something else like a web host setting or issue.
